This past weekend, I had the pleasure of sitting down with this adorable young girl who has goals that are definitely unlike mine at her age (LOL).
Gabrielle (Gabby) is a 5 year old fashion designer. Her designs have been featured in four runway shows (YES...four shows already!). I saw Gabby's designs at DCFW (DC Fashion Week) two weeks ago and I was amazed at the details of each piece & of course the bubbly young models who hit the runway wearing her pieces.
Check out my interview with this doll below!
How old were you when you learned how to sew?
I was three years old. I wanted some gum from the store and my mommy told me "no". So I decided if I make my own money I could purchase gum for myself and that's what made me start sewing.
What made you get into fashion design?
I just like to make my own clothes. :)
Who would you love to work with?
My cousin D'Amoni, she's twelve years old and she loves sewing as much as I do! Celebrities that I would love to work with would be Beyoncé and JoJo Siwa. JoJo is known for her bold and shimmery bows.
What’s your favorite piece to design?
I love making skirts!! I made a skirt that I now wear as a shirt, so it's a skirt dress. Just like the one I'm wearing in my pictures.
When you’re not designing, what is another hobby you enjoy?
Making nail polish, designing notebooks, basically anything that has to do with arts & crafts! I'm preparing to put together my own store. I love shopping at Five and Below and going to Sky Zone because I LOVE jumping! I also love dancing!! I dance for Marcellus Reynolds (@marcellusdance). I started dancing after meeting Chloe Arnold (@chloearnoldtaps) and Maud Arnold (@maudiepooh) at DC Tap Fest two years ago.
What’s in store for the remainder of 2019?
I want to begin creating shoes and bows. I love glittery pieces so my bows & shoes will be glittery!
Did you all enjoy this interview as much as I did?!! This young girl is so talented at only five years old! Her mom mentioned that she was shy but once I began the interview her personality shined through. Be sure to follow her on Instagram @gabbysworlddesign.
